You're never too old
(Edmonton, Alberta, Canada)
In a local old folks home many of the seniors had become widows and widowers over the years. Though they were deep into their latter years, they still enjoyed the companionship and attention of others.
One day, a widower who had eyes for one of the widows at the home finally built up the courage to ask her a very important question. Over dinner, his heart beat fast, his palms were sweaty, but he managed to blurt out "Mavis, I hope you don't find me too forward, but I think you are the most amazing woman in the world, and it would be a great honor if you would consent to being my wife.
Will you marry me?" She blushed, smiled, and after a brief moment, answered, "Yes, John, I would love to be your wife". They sweetly held hands and walked together to their respective rooms.
The next day, John woke up confused. He called Mavis to ask her to help him. He said, "Mavis, I know I'm getting a little old and forgetful, and I apologize, but I remember asking you to marry me but for the life of me, I can't remember what you replied." Mavis sighed with relief and said, "Thanks for calling. I said yes, but for the life of me, couldn't remember who asked!"
