On the Edge of the Frontier
by: Pioneer

I have been out of work for two months now. I was a tutor working for a number of Supplemental Educational Service companies as well as a private client. Even while I was working, the compensation was only just enough, or just shy of, what was needed to make ends meet. Education is an essential field; however, in my experience thus far, the work has been hard and underappreciated, and the rewards have been slim at best. I will share a little bit about my experiences before I move on to the positive stuff. Some of it is boring, but some of it is also quite funny in retrospect.
My mainstay SES company was a godsend in the beginning, especially after a year and a half of unemployment. The schedule was flexible, the pay was $15 an hour, and a high school student could do the work. However, the hours were unreliable and the work environment sure left something to be desired. It was the norm to have your hours cancelled at the last minute, often right before your scheduled time. Negativity and lack of professionalism was rampant, and chronic disorganization, low morale, childish behavior and repeated mistakes abounded.
Well, all of this I could brush off, as it was outside of my control and was symptomatic of relatively normal workplace malaise. But I was definitely not staying forever. I knew that I had no future here. But after two years of this insidious cycle, I simply got too comfortable. I needed a push/pull catalyst that would propel me out of this deadly comfort zone.
Fortunately, the catalyst DID come, and it was threefold. The logistics guy asked me out and constantly smothered me. One of the female employees began to cling to me like a stalker and behaved worse than a possessive boyfriend. And the kicker: the management team decided to reduce my hours at a day program from full- to part-time with no advanced warning. The reason? Two out of my 35 students were not paying attention. They wait until 3pm on the Friday before Spring Break to break the news to me. Talk about baloney. Now that it’s summer, they have nothing going on – that was it.
Now that I am on my own again, I am very thankful for the resources and support that I have. I am not going to lie: it has been extremely difficult living on my own with no steady income. But I choose to stop complaining about my life and instead focus my energy on what I can contribute to this world. Now is a chance to dabble, get creative, and, help each other out.
If you do have a job, stop complaining at work, no matter how much you hate it. It is simply a waste of energy. Instead, use that energy to plan for an alternative, like a better job or your own business venture. There is always another way. Save as many of your hard-earned dollars as possible. Volunteer at a homeless shelter and give them life-saving sustenance. Rediscover old hobbies and new talents and do something entrepreneurial with them. Above all: have some fun in your life, and be happy you’re alive!

What do you really want to do
by: Tips Writer

Not being negative is a really difficult thing to do. Especially if you have a friend who is prone to be negative, it's really hard to get them out of their negative funk. Plus, no one wants to be around someone who is terminally negative. But, let's face it, going to work day after day is a hard thing to do and can get monotonous. Also, complaining about every little thing can be addicting. However, when you find that one of your good friends is caught under this negative spell, there are a couple things that you can do. One, and one crucial one is asking them what they would rather be doing. If they are not happy with their situation whether that is work or anything else in their life, ask them what they would rather be doing. Instead of trying to plainly cheer the person up, motivate them to change their life and become happier. Would you rather be working somewhere else? Would you rather be working for yourself? Would you rather be living somewhere else? Try to extract from them their honest opinion and see if they will give you an honest answer. If you can find the route of the problem, you might be take away the persons negativity permanently. This is because sometimes people get into jobs that they hate so much that it greatly affects every asset in their life and makes them a strongly negative person. Sometimes people won't tell you initially if they hate their job, but eventually will confess to it. There is also a high chance that if you successfully find the route of the problem, you will become even closer with your friend because you helped them get rid of negativity in their life. So remember, if you've got a negative friend, ask them "What do you really want to do"?

My way!
by: auskay

The best way I have found to get rid of negative thoughts and to stop complaining at work is to just relax in my mind. You have to realize you are one of the lucky ones out there to have the job and you need to be greatful for what you have. There are many people out there who would do anything to have a job while your the one letting it go through your mind negatively. Realize, you are going to have to work for the rest of your life and why not just do what your doing and enjoy it, find people at work that help you to enjoy your day and want to be there. Make your work a fun game in your head, its easy to get rid of the negative thoughts, you just have to fight them out by realizing the truth behind the whole matter of having your job! Another thing to alway remember when your mind is in the gutter and your seriously thinking bad about your job and you keep complaining, what would you do without that job. What do you have at home that is making you need that job. You could lose it all in the blink of an eye if you let your thoughts contol you to thinking negatively and leading you to continuously complain. If there is something deeper in the situation that is being unseen, play the logics of it in your head until you figure out just what you are trying to get through at this point in time. If you need to talk to someone please do. If you feel that they will have you in a bad situation remember you can always go higher up than them as there is always someone with more authority over someone else. Hope this helps someone!

Keeping a Good Attitude Makes Sense
by: Joe Maiuro

Why do people find that they must complain at work? Let's face it we have to work, right? Maybe its time to just stop complaining at work once and for all. Most of the time it is usually due to factors outside work that cause much of the complaints. So perhaps we should first consider dealing better with our lives outside of work, and then we bring a much more stable attitude to the work place. The work place should be someplace that we enjoy and are happy to spend time with our co-workers. When you consider how much time we actually do spend at work, doesn't it make good sense to be in a relaxed and receptive state? It is sort of like sleeping, in that we spend so much time in bed that why in the world would we want to sleep on a broken ripped old mattress? The same should be true at work, where we would be wise to just stop complaining at work and get down to the business at hand. In truth, productivity suffers when complaining is the order of the day, and it tends to bring down the entire group. If we could all just realize that we are a collective consciousness and that what we do or say to others effects what we get in return. This is to say that we are not separate individuals but all all connected in some mystical way. Learning to get along at work is just one step in the long journey to understanding ourselves and our own spirituality. There will likely come a time in the not to distant future where we will all knows these truths outright. Learning to stop complaining at work is just the beginning, then we will progress into learning to be better as a nation and then even as a planet. Sure, these ideas are easier said sometimes than done, but it is to all our benefit to try to improve how we conduct ourselves at work as well as outside of work. At the end of the day it really just boils down to good old fashioned common sense and common respect for everyone around us.

Root of negative thoughts & how to avoid them
by: Jaison

Imagine being born as an animal. Do animals have negative thoughts? Yes they can. But when? Not when they have eaten and they are safe from danger. Agree? Or may be when their dear ones (offsprings) are safe too. Perhaps also when they are able to mate or attract oppposite sex. And some animals feel well or otherwise based on how well they are treated in their herds, provided ofcourse they live in herds. Also So man's basic form, an animal, gets negative thoughts due to four primary reasons: Food, Safety, Reproduction and Societal acceptance. Being humans living in civilized societies we are provided food and safety easily for most of us. But due to advancement in our species the last two gained higher importance, much more than they should have. And this is the root cause of our negative thoughts and worries. Man is made to live happily given his basic requirements are met with regards to food and safety, but during process of growth we add unnecessary additional basic needs in terms of reputation in society & ability to attract opposite sex for mating. And gradually these becomes the primary needs with lot of emphasis on them. People around us create an illusionary world of what makes fulfillment of the last two. And anything that takes us towards fulfilling this illusion gives temporary happiness and positive thoughts while opposite gives negative thoughts, worries or when intense: Depression. The way to avoid this negativity happen is to be able to see the things in their absolute form or atleast have a sense of them. If you takes some time out everyday and can connect with your inner self, our all capable inner self will guide you to what gives absolute pleasure and whats a temporary one. Going along this path will get rid for you from negative thoughts for always!

Shut up and grind those gears
by: Malone

Life isn’t easy. Day in and day out we punch the clock to collect our checks, slaves to the almighty dollar, dirham, or whatever currency you get paid in. As awful and counterintuitive to human nature as this might seem sadly it is, in fact, the long and short of it. No real way around it. Might aswell shut up and find your happy place.
Because that’s basically your only option, short of stealing the Hope diamond or somehow striking it rich in commodities speculation we’re all basically destined to sit behind a desk and watch as our youth circles the drain and is wasted on the corporate dime.
But that’s ok. You’re not alone. And before you put that barrel in your mouth and pull the trigger slow your roll and center yourself, learn some breathing techniques, and quit complaining. Pick up a pair of stress balls, whatever you need to do – because this is what our existence has become! Embrace it, enjoy it, and wallow in it like a pig in a sty!
Why not? Think about the silver lining. Just because your job is calling random strangers on the phone all day and trying to get them to buy useless junk they don’t need doesn’t mean it’s all bad. Not really. This sort of purposeless existence has all sorts of benefits!
Firstly, there’s no real responsibility! Short of being a surgeon or nuclear technician on a submarine most people in our modern society have absolutely no dependents. Your job doesn’t really matter, and no one is counting on you. When you think of it in that light, it’s kind of relieving isn’t it? So sit back, crack a cold one under your desk and out of sight, and try and beat that brick breaker high score! Life’s good – good and pointless.

Stop complaining about complaining
by: Anonymous

The point of this useless website is right on. You should stop complaining at work. Of course that is if you have a job. If not, you should make a job. I think that is the website's secret message. The internet is a place of opportunity where anyone can create a new business and make money right away. There are thousands of ways to make money on the internet, from selling trinkets on Ebay to filling out surveys to writing silly reviews. I wish the site had something useful to say about getting rid of negative thoughts. That is a major scourge on mankind at the moment. There are just far too many negative thoughts in the world today. Or course, if you made more money, perhaps some of those negative thoughts would go away.
